Course Description:

This course is designed to be a student's introduction to the sciences.

We will cover such topics as the history of science, scientific method, designing experiments, archaeology, geology,
paleontology, astronomy, earth science, basic chemistry, physics, and biology, and marine and environmental science.
Its scope, therefore, is quite wide. 

The material is approached from a Biblical perspective, and thus, explores these topics and
their relationship to creation.

We do many in-class, hands-on experiments.
Two projects are assigned, one each semester.

Course Class Time: 

  • Class time will include review of homework and labs, as well as hands-on activities to reinforce the material that they will read from their text.
  • We will spend time reviewing the material in the text, and there will be a quiz every two weeks.  

Course Homework Requirements:
  • The student will be responsible for reading the material in the text on their own on a weekly basis.
  • Other homework will include weekly study guides, worksheets, pre-lab write-ups, and a project each semester.
  • Students can expect to spend approximately 3-4 hours per week on homework.
    This will consist of reading about 15 pages in the text and answering around 20 questions on the study guide.
  • Most weeks will involve a pre-lab write-up.  


  • Tests will be given in class.
