Course Description:
Welcome to the fun and exciting world of photography!
This course will build your photography skills through every aspect of digital photography.
We will work towards mastering your photography while maximizing your artistic talent.

Class Time:
  • We will begin each class by sharing/critiquing our assigned homework photographs
    with the class and discussing the lesson.
  • We will then have an overview of the next assignment.
  • If time allows, we will begin our next photo assignment inside or outside the building.
Homework Requirements:
  • Weekly reading assignment
  • End of Chapter review
  • 4 to 6 photos assignment each week to be printed, posted, and due upon class arrival.
  • Assignments should take about two hours per week on average.
  • Two mounted Photo Presentations per year to be displayed at the WHCT Student Showcase
  • Occasionally, some assignments may require short travel to find the best location for the assignment,
    but most assignments can be done in your home, yard, or places you go.

Grading:
  • 75%  homework & class participation
  • 25%  photo presentations
  • Participation grade includes bringing their camera (fully charged with SD card),
    book, portfolio album, and folder to class.

Supplies: 
  • DSLR camera
    Please feel free to contact the tutor for assistance with choosing a camera.
  • owner's manual (hard copy or online version) for your specific camera
  • textbook
  • SD Card 16GB minimum ($10)
  • 3-pronged folder w. paper and pen/pencil
  • other supplies provided via lab fee
Summer Assignment:
  • Prior to the first day of class, each student is required to read the Owner's Manual for their camera.
    As each camera has different features, it is important for the student to know how operate their camera, how to take a picture, and be familiar with what most of the buttons.In class, we will learn how to properly use these functions. Please allow adequate time for this as the Owner's Manual is very comprehensive. If they do not have a physical copy of the Owners Manual, it can be found online at the manufacturer's website. The student will be using their Owners Manual through out the year as we learn these functions.
