The tutor will provide handouts for any information needed.
Speech is a one semester class that will allow each student the opportunity to practice delivering
a variety of speeches in front of an audience while learning to read the audience for feedback.
The student will also evaluate famous speeches, as well as learning the basic techniques of public speaking.
Course Class Time:
We will spend class time giving impromptu speeches, learning the various types of speeches
(imperative, introductory, interview, demonstration, declamation, informational, devotional, and persuasive), and writing various speeches.
We will discuss how to listen to a speech to evaluate it for creditability and authenticity,
as well as various techniques used to make the speech more effective.
Course Homework Requirements:
Each student will be required to prepare, practice, and deliver various types of speeches.
In addition, there will be occasional tests on the information discussed in class.
Class participation and speech preparation / delivery will be the main components of the grade.
