FAQs

Q:

What grade levels do you serve?

A:

WHCT serves homeschooled students in grades 6-12.  Students should have been homeschooled for at least one year prior to registering with us.

Q:

Are you an umbrella school?

A:

No, WHCT is not an umbrella school. We are simply a tutorial offering classes that parents might want to outsource to more knowledgeable tutors.

All prospective and current students must be registered with an umbrella school or as independent homeschoolers with the state of Tennessee.  You can find details on all of the requirements in Tennessee at the HSLDA website.

If you have questions about this, please reach out to [email protected]

Q:

What classes do you offer?

A:

We offer a variety of classes from core academics to electives.
All of our core academic classes are considered college-prep-level classes.
Our current classes and schedule can be viewed from the drop-down menu titled "Schedule & Academic Calendar."

Q:

Do you report grades?

A:

Our tutors report earned grades for each class to the parents. It is then the parents' responsibility to report those grades to your chosen umbrella school or to the county where your student is registered.

Q:

What is the cost per class?

A:

Currently there is a $65-per-class operations fee, payable once at the beginning of the year.

The per-class tuition depends on the weight of the course. Offering classes in the a la carte format as we do, our classes have different meeting frequencies. Most classes meet once a week, but heavier math and science classes and some electives, like foreign languages, are twice-a-week classes.  At our current tution rates, a once-weekly class is $100 per quarter and a twice-weekly class is $125 per quarter.  These fees are paid directly to the tutor at the time of registraion using post-dated checks for each quarter.

You should also be aware, however, that some classes carry a lab fee that covers the consumable items needed to operate the classes.  Those lab fees vary based on the needs of the particular class.  They are paid with other once-a-year payments to the tutorial.
