Why I teach at WHCT:
I am teaching at WHCT because it gives me the opportunity to instruct and construct classes based off of my strengths. The students will be able to see that I really enjoy what I’m teaching. I also like that the class sizes are small, which will make it easier for individualized instruction. Working at WHCT also gives me the ability to still have the free time during the week to pursue my music career.
I believe that students succeed and are able to acquire the most information from “learning by doing.” They should be able to seek out the process that works best for them, and I, being the teacher, should be able to provide a variety of solutions and accept new approaches from my students. I feel that group work, discovery, and inquiry learning are the best way to approach teaching; however, I do think that a direct approach should also be integrated into teaching, as well as individual work time. Whether formal or informal, assessing students is continuous and essential for developing a strong and successful learning environment.
Why I teach these specific courses:
I absolutely love performing arts and the spoken word!
Music, dance, and songwriting have all been such a huge part of my life. I am so excited to be sharing my gifts to help nurture my students to grow in their talents, and I am looking forward to guiding them on their journey.
