Why I teach at WHCT:
WHCT provides a unique opportunity for homeschool families to come alongside experienced and enthusiastic tutors in the education process of their children. It’s a pleasure to be part of a Christ-centered program that encourages high academic standards, is a community of like-minded families, and has a diverse offering of classes. Over the years, I have recognized that my own children strive to be their best under the instruction of a teacher/tutor that is invested in their growth and encourages communication. I look forward to being involved in your child's education and will work hard to help bring out the best in each student.
Attitude is a choice in everything we do, and we are instructed to do all things as if for Christ. My desire is that students would love to learn, even through difficult subject matter, and unlock the abilities God has blessed them with. I believe that teaching with enthusiasm and passion, while being consistent in classroom expectations and mutual respect, keeps students engaged and willing to work hard.
Why I teach these specific courses:
I have always loved math! I like knowing that there is a right answer and I enjoy the process in finding it. This love of math (along with a love for animals and the outdoors) led me to earn a double major in Agricultural Engineering and Animal Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I have several years of experience in the engineering field, along with multiple years of teaching math (a private Christian school, WHCT, and a local homeschool co-op). Along with a love of math and experience in mathematics-related fields, I enjoy teaching that our God is the creator of all subjects and He is a God of order. If we acknowledge His authorship over everything we study, we can hopefully appreciate all aspects of our learning on a higher level.
